Community development
As part of our commitment to our communities, we have a team of Community Development Coordinators. They work with communities to develop projects in our neighbourhoods and to support communities to get together and organise events and projects for themselves.
We also have a Financial and Digital inclusion coordinator who specifically supports you to be more financially resilient and to get online.
We often hold roadshows and events in communities, so keep an eye out on social media for more information. The team have been involved in a number of projects including:
- Investing in our community centres to make them vibrant hubs for the community:
- Rhydwen Drive, ‘Phoenix Centre’, Rhyl
- Maes Esgob, Dyserth
- Pengwern, Llangollen
- Supporting and delivering a number of community events:
- Family fun days
- Bro Havard environmental improvements
- Litter picking day with Ysgol Melyd in Meliden
- Halloween events
- Working with partners on a number of projects around the county:
- Y Shed, Meliden community resource
- Rural transport project for South Denbighshire
- ‘Shark Bites’ Loan shark awareness project
- Bruton Park pond and play area
- Morfa Gateway Project, Prestatyn
- Nature for Health, county wide
- Here are just some of the grant applications we have received for projects:
- Llandrynog Green Gym £10,000 from Awards for All and £1,000 from Tesco ‘Bag for Life’ campaign
- Llantysilio Greenspaces project (Community bench bird & box making) £1,000 from Tesco ‘Bag for Life’
- Pengwern Community received £1,300 from the Denbighshire Commuted fund.
- Trem Y Foel, Ruthin received £4,500 from Awards for All Wales towards armchair exercise classes, community activities and community centre furniture
