Llys Llên - new energy efficient Council homes ready to welcome tenants

A Prestatyn town centre development is welcoming tenants to new energy efficient Council homes.

Work has been completed on the Llys Llen development at the old Library site in the town. Denbighshire Housing’s development comprises of 14 one bedroomed energy efficient apartments and two non-residential units on the ground floor level.

Tenants are now preparing to move into the apartments that are built with high energy efficiency to reduce the cost of living pressures for tenants and simultaneously help the Council and Wales achieve its net carbon zero targets.

Ground source heat pumps provide lower cost heating and improve the energy efficiency of the homes in the development. Alongside this, installed solar panels with storage batteries are also contributing to reducing the carbon footprint of the development and lowering energy costs to run each home. All apartments have level access showers and lift access.

These new homes are part of Denbighshire County Council’s commitment to continue tackling waiting times for accommodation by addressing the need for more local housing provision.

Cllr Rhys Thomas, Lead Member for Housing and Communities, said: “We are grateful to have the keys to this fantastic development in Prestatyn town centre that will provide great homes for tenants. The Council is also very grateful for all the support of our partners who have helped make this site possible.

“Our priority is to make sure there are homes available in Denbighshire to meet the needs of our residents. These new apartments meet these needs by giving quality accommodation that is affordable as well as offering the highest levels of build quality to support the reduction of energy use and reduce carbon emissions and lower household bills.”
